SCOTT ROTH – NBA G-LEAGUE HEAD COACH OF THE IOWA WOLVES AND FORMER NBA PLAYER
Scott Roth grew up in Brecksville, Ohio and played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin. Scott played more than a decade of professional basketball including stints with the Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs, and Minnesota Timberwolves. During part of his time with the Jazz he actually lived with Karl Malone.
After his playing career Scott Roth moved into coaching where he has 24 plus years of NBA experience with 11 of those on the bench. He sat next to Don Nelson, the winningest coach in NBA history for 4 years as a member of the Dalls mavericks coaching staff. Scott has coached 4 different National teams, coached in the d-league and this past season in the g-league .Scott was hired by Tom Thibodeau of the Minnesota Timberwolves this past season to create a new culture and foundation for the newly acquired Iowa Wolves. Scott has had a good run of coaching and developing players. Scott has been lucky enough to impact Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, Kristaps Porzingis, Jonas Valanciunas, Amir Johnson, Shane Battier, Steve Nash and many others. He was also was the defensive coach in Toronto under Dwane Casey and took them from 30th to the top 10 in every defensive category!
I have known Scott since the mid 1980’s when he was nice enough to take a young kid like me under his wing and allow me to train with him during the summer.
