Do we want to be great? “We need to look at adversity as the teaching that moves us toward our goal, not as the obstacle that keeps us from it.” @LewisHowes
Right now is the “Off-Season.” It is the time in which we as coaches can see our players fail. It is a time in which we can give them new things to try and watch them fail. Here is the chance for us to teach them what the true meaning of failure is. A step closer to the vision they have for themselves or we have of our team.
Take time to catch your players in a position of adversity. You can even schedule adversity as you plan the strength and conditioning workouts/open gyms/small sided games/meetings. Have them give ideas for ways to be successful against the adversity. Force them to examine the result after they experience the failure/success from facing the adversity.
The more we can get them to view it as an opportunity for growth, the more success we can have in the upcoming seasons as the well as the long-term future. This will help them become problem solvers. PRAISE them now for it so you get the behaviors you want. Praising the desired behavior often gets the desired result.
