Ras Vanderloo

Coach Ras Vanderloo is currently in his 8th season as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Sioux City East High School in Sioux City, IA. He has spent 28 years coaching basketball, 12 as a Head Coach and 16 as an Assistant Coach. Ras is a 5-time district coach of the year and the 2017 State 4A Coach of the Year. He is currently 155-30 (84%) at East High with 3 State Tournament appearances and a State Runner Up in 2012 and is 205 – 67 overall as a Head Coach.

Besides being the Head Coach at East, Ras also runs a large youth league basketball program with over 650 kids annually participating. The league is currently 27 years old and was started by his father.

Ras comes from a large coaching family, his father Rich and brother Jeff (now Creighton Assistant) are both former Head Coaches at East High in Sioux City. Younger brother John is a former Head Coach in the Conference and currently an Assistant Coach for Ras. Brother Jim is a former Athletic Director and coach in the Conference and now a school administrator.

To top things off Ras is helping USA Basketball as a Youth Development Regional Coordinator.
