ISAIAH CAVACO – HEAD MEN’S BASKETBALL COACH AT OBERLIN (OH) COLLEGE

Isaiah Cavaco

Isaiah Cavaco just completed his 13th season as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Oberlin College in Ohio.  This year his team set the school record for North Coast Athletic Conference wins with 9.  Under Coach Cavaco’s leadership Oberlin completed their 4th 10 plus win season in 5 years, the first time that has ever been done at Oberlin.

Isaiah grew up in Hawaii through 8th grade and then moved to California. He attended Mater Dei High School where he was one of what ended up being 8 Division One players in his graduating class. Isaiah later transferred to Villa Park High School and was named second-team all-state by the Los Angeles Times in his senior year.

Cavaco played his college ball at Yale University and started 46 games in his career despite missing his junior year with 3 knee surgeries.

Isaiah began his coaching career as graduate assistant at Ohio University and then returned to his alma mater where he was an assistant at Yale before leaving coaching briefly to go into the financial world.  After getting the coaching bug again he came back to coaching at John Carroll with the Women’s program then became an assistant at Oberlin before taking over the program as the Head Coach.
