Who Has the Most Rings in the NBA?

The ultimate goal of any sport is to win a championship. In the NBA, each player strives to hoist the trophy at the end of the year. More often than not, the NBA players with the most rings garner the most respect.

Each of these players has shaken NBA history and the odds of their respective teams. Their achievements not only highlight personal legacies but also impact fan engagement, including betting. For avid NBA bettors who wager on future NBA champions, understanding which online betting payment methods are the best is essential to fully enjoy the betting experience.

Knowing who has the most rings in the NBA requires a bit of a dive. While we all know LeBron James and Stephen Curry, they don’t have the most rings. So, who has the most NBA rings?

Players. When talking about who has the most NBA rings, the discussion begins and ends with Bill Russell. He has more rings than fingers, having won 11 titles in an incredible 13-year span. His legendary defensive prowess earned him the nickname ‘Secretary of Defense’ and made him one of the greatest ever.

Sam Jones might not be the household name that Russell is, but he was a teammate of Russell on those legendary Celtics teams. When discussing who has the most rings in the NBA, Jones is right there with 10 rings in total.

With eight rings apiece, there are Tommy Heinsohn, Tom Sanders, John Havlicek, and K.C. Jones.  As you could have guessed, each of them was a key component to the Celtics’ success in the 1960s and 1970s. Winning that many rings put you in such rarified air that few could ever hope to match it.

Teams. The NBA players with the most rings are impressive, but here’s something else to consider.  Each of the aforementioned players has more NBA championship rings than every franchise but two.

The Celtics recently won their 18th NBA Championship, putting them at the top of the mountain. Since 2020, they have been tied with the Los Angeles Lakers, who won their 17th banner. The sheer dominance of the two franchises cannot be understated.

One look through NBA history and you can see one of the two leaving a trail of destruction. The Celtics dominated the 1960s. The two split eight NBA titles between themselves in the 1980s. The Lakers teams of the early 2000s are some of the greatest ever.

After that, the Golden State Warriors are next with seven titles, though two of them came while they were the Philadelphia Warriors. The Chicago Bulls are next with six titles, all of which were won between 1991 and 1998. The San Antonio Spurs also had a great run, winning five titles between 1999 and 2014.

Winning an NBA championship is difficult. Only 11 NBA teams have won multiple titles. Some of them – the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks – won their last 40 years ago or longer. Having four or more rings as an NBA player definitely puts you on another level.
