3 LEVELS OF CONSISTENCY

What does it take for a Killer Instinct or “Bring out the dawg” mentality? Here are what I think builds and facilitates that. It all comes down to CONSISTENCY.

Step 1- SHOOTING CONSISTENCY: In order get to the other two levels of consistency, you must first build a shot that is Consistent and Repeatable. You have to be able to replicate the same shot (mechanics wise) over in over to build the automation your shot needs to be consistent from your desired range. Doing so will build CONFIDENCE!

Step 2- FOLLOW THE PLAN CONSISTENTLY: CONSISTENCY comes from doing it over and over, even when you don’t want to. Does going to the gym when your friends want to play Fortnite suck? HECK YEAH. But, you’ve got to do it if you want to be consistent. It isn’t just times when you don’t want to be there, it’s times when you’re missing, and you must consistently shoot your shots. If the plan consists of getting your pointer finger in the rim, you have to remind yourself to do it on every shot. Follow the plan and build CONFIDENCE!

Step 3- CONSISTENTLY FROM YOUR SPOTS THAT YOUR ROLE REQUIRES: The players that hit that crucial shot or make that play, have repped that situation over, and over, and over. You didn’t see Shane Battier shoot step back threes while he was an NBA champion. You saw him shoot 3’s from the corner. That was his ROLE! The successful people when the lights are on have repped and repped consistently the shots their role required in the system they played. Be prepared for your shots and you will build an unshakable CONFIDENCE!
