The new NBA season is underway, and fans of the best basketball in the world are thrilled to watch the exciting matches and the best teams. In yet another clash of these modern-day gladiators, fans and supporters wonder who will come on top. The NBA is of course extremely unpredictable, due to the high quality of the players and staff that participate in it. It often happens that the favorites in the preseason are left empty-handed at some point in the Playoff, or in the Finals. The Finals bring the best out of the players, as the taste of victory is so close; therefore, it is much easier to talk about who are the best teams in each Conference.
The Basic Structure of NBA
The National Basketball Association, or NBA in short, consists of 30 teams, separated into two conferences, East and West. Each team plays 82 games and is positioned on its respective conference leaderboard. Teams play against opponents from both conferences, and these matches are popular even on sites like www.strafe.com, which offer bets on other sports like soccer. After the completion of the regular season, the top eight teams from each conference qualify for Playoffs. Through elimination matches, we have the champions of each conference, pitted against each other in the Finals.
Eastern Conference
We will start with the East, as last year’s champions came from this conference, the Boston Celtics. The reigning champions are also the main favorites for the top of their conference in the 2024-25 season. Led by amazing Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics are by far the team that showed the most in recent years. They’ve participated in six of the last eight Eastern Conference Finals. This was the summer in which the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were held, and the USA managed to grab the gold medal. In the USA team of 12, 3 Celtics players were selected: Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White. This speaks tons about the quality of their team, and that is why it is perfectly natural to expect Boston to come on top of the East. Even with the strong challenge by the New York Knicks, who made the spectacular trade to bring Karl-Anthony Towns, securing them the best starting lineup in the league.
Western Conference
Here we have tougher competition for the top place. West is packed with teams capable of claiming first place in the conference. Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves, led by incredible Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Anthony Edwards, can make life difficult for any other franchise. Luka Doncic and his Dallas Mavericks have reached the Finals, only to watch the Celtics lift the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, but they are still an amazing team. But the public will look at (and expect the most of) the Denver Nuggets. Nikola Jokic and the gang will try to pull off another successful campaign, having won the league back in 2023. They have signed Russell Westbrook to assist them in this campaign, but there is a lot of work ahead. However, having three-time MVP in the last four seasons, the incredible Jokic helps them against competitors.
Conclusion
Another NBA season is underway, and fans are already making their predictions about the outcome. Both conferences have great teams that will produce incredible encounters on the court, but some of them are favorites for a reason. The Boston Celtics from the East and Denver Nuggets from the West look like they will come on top of their respective conferences. The result will show if they can achieve those results.
